All That You Must Know About Dealing With Skin Tags

The cause of skin tags showing up on one’s eyelids, neck, breasts, armpits or groin is still unknown. However, they are thought to be benign growths that erupt in the above-mentioned parts of the body. Loose fibers of collagen, they are embedded in the skin’s thicker parts.

They could be a result of the skin rubbing against each other, but studies also point to the fact that they could be due to obesity and Type 2 disease. They are as harmless as they are unsightly, so people often try all kinds of methods of removing them.

Here are some effective skin tag removal methods:

Surgery

If you cannot get around to removing a skin tag yourself, let your dermatologist do it. He will perform this tiny procedure under local anesthesia in his aesthetic clinic in Singapore. He may cauterize the area to remove the skin tag; use cryosurgery or surgically cut off the skin tag from the skin surface and stitch the area.

Home Remedies

You can also go in for home remedies with products available in your kitchen. Here are some you could try out:

1. Tea Tree Oil
The antifungal and antiviral properties of Tea Tree Oil are particularly effective in getting rid of skin tags. To use it for skin tag removal, wash the area and using a cotton swab, massage the oil for a few minutes onto the skin tag. Bandage the area and repeat the process for a few days till the tag falls off.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps break down skin tags due to its content of acetic acid. To use ACV, dip a cotton swab in it and place the swab directly over the skin tag. Wrap the skin tag in a bandage for about 20 minutes and then clean the skin. Repeat this for 15 days after which it will fall off.

3. Banana Peel
Banana peels are effective in drying out a skin tag. Place it over the skin tag and cover it with a bandage. This should be done each night until the tag falls off.

Conclusion
Skin tags are generally harmless, so you wouldn’t need any specific treatment unless it irritates the skin. Home remedies are usually effective, but if a skin tag doesn’t come off using them, a dermatologist will need to surgically remove it.
